Yes, it is a credible source most of the time. > Today's Lesson is for the PUSU crowd.. > Source: The New York Times > Title: The Mask Mandates Did Nothing, Will Any Lessons Be Learned? > Url:https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/21/opinion/do-mask-mandates-work.html I was unable to read that article because it was behind a pay-wall, but I did find a web site which talked about it. https://fee.org/articles/the-new-york-times-explains-why-mask-mandates-don-t-work/
David Leonhardt, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, begins by exploring an apparent paradox involving masks observed by epidemiologist Dr. Shira Doron of Tufts Medical Center: "It is simultaneously true that masks work and mask mandates do not work." As Leonhardt notes, it's quite possible that people who choose to wear masks wear them differently than people who are required to wear them.
Please note that the NYT article apparently did not say masks do not work but that mask-mandates did not work. That is clear from the title of the URL itself. MP> That can sure happen, but it makes me wonder if they were wearing the MP> mask correctly to begin with That is a major point in the discussion I quoted above (and possibly in the NYT article also). Namely, if you force people to wear masks then they will resist and either not wear them or wear them improperly. MP> As Ron points out, it does not really make sense to wear one when you MP> are in a car alone, but some people (taxi and ride-sharing drivers, for MP> example) are not usually alone. I have worn my mask in the car, but only when going from where it was required (my Dr.'s office) and forgetting to take it off. Dale Shipp fido_261_1466 (at) verizon (dot) net (1:261/1466) ....
