Yes, it is a credible source most of the time.

I was unable to read that article because it was behind a pay-wall, but

Please note that the NYT article apparently did not say masks do not
work but that mask-mandates did not work.  That is clear from the title
of the URL itself.

That is a major point in the discussion I quoted above (and possibly in
the NYT article also).  Namely, if you force people to wear masks then
they will resist and either not wear them or wear them improperly.

I have worn my mask in the car, but only when going from where it was
required (my Dr.'s office) and forgetting to take it off.
