I have a relative who came out fairly young also, when it seemed to be the
in thing to do.  She has stuck with it so far, though, and no one I am aware
of has given her grief over it.

That is what supposedly happens to people who try to be straight and then
realize they are not, so I am not too surprised that the opposite can also
happen.
