A lie is a lie. Especially if one doubles down on it.

Being able to reconsider one's statements when presented with evidence to
the contrary is a sign of intelligence and maturity. Doubling down on one's
lies is the opposite of being able to reconsider one's statements when
presented with evidence to the contrary. Trump is the King of Doubling Down.
