AT> JT> AT> That's fine I guess but why so many celebrities all of a sudden? AT> JT> AT> it so important for them to win this election? AT> JT> In a word, Trump. AT> That doesn't make any sense. There was never any obvious indication that AT> Trump would be harmful, at least not back in 2016. Dude, Trump was telling anyone who would listen what he'd do as president. AT> JT> AT> They didn't care if AT> JT> AT> Mccain or Romney were going to beat Obama; there was no mass-mes AT> JT> AT> like this for those elections. AT> JT> So what changed? What's your guess? AT> What do you mean? I mean, you obviously think that you see a change in the way that celebrities have reacted to Republican presidential candidates over time; what do you think is driving that change? AT> JT> AT> Celebrities weren't willing to lose fans AT> JT> AT> for getting political back then, but in 2016 they all marched to AT> JT> AT> to trash Trump. AT> JT> They felt more strongly about Trump than previous candidates. AT> Yea, for sure, but that doesn't explain why. Sure it does. AT> JT> No, it doesn't. Why are you opposed to celebrities using their clout AT> JT> endorse political candidates? AT> Because they did it collectively and abruptly, and they never acted that AT> way before. And they did it to hurt a candidate who had nothing personal AT> to gain from becoming president. Where were they in 2012? Nobody had AT> anything bad to say about Romney. And that is wrong how? For whatever reason they reacted more strongly toward Trump. What exactly should prohibit them from using their clout to endorse a political candidate? AT> JT> Democrats are not "wasting so much money." They are investing in our AT> JT> country, something Republicans seem to be unwilling to do. AT> The money is being squandered, and voters are being lied to. I know we AT> had this conversation before, but look at what whitehouse.gov says about AT> the previous money grab: AT> "These game-changing investments will put American plumbers and AT> pipefitters to work replacing all of the Americas lead pipes and service AT> lines and making other critical upgrades." AT> Notice the word "all" in there? But not "all" the lead pipes got AT> replaced, and not "all" of them ever will be. But whitehouse.gov AT> *insists* otherwise: AT> https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2021/12/16/fa AT> et-the-biden-harris-lead-pipe-and-paint-action-plan/ From that same webpage: "The City of Buffalo, NY has budgeted $10 million for an expansion of the City’s ROLL program so that at least an additional 1,000 homes can have their lead water service lines replaced. The City has already successfully replaced the lines in 500 homes and this expanded capacity will more than double its impact." Perhaps you should ask your city why they have not availed themselves of some of these grants, and if they have, what's the holdup?
