Coincidences, perhaps! Now these are possibly examples of what I was thinking of. I am not sure they are part of any conspiracy so much as they are just bad policies. In the case of the mental institutions, I think both political sides are to blame -- the left said it was not correct to lock people away, that they could reform them, etc., while the right disagreed until someone showed them they could save money not locking them away. The USA is not the only place that happened, either. As a society, we seem to look at divorce with less of a stigma than we used to. In some ways, I am not sure that is a bad thing as some marriages are worse than the alternative. However, it has also contributed to the deterioration of the family unit. It is not the only factor. Judges who have a prejudice against the fathers (or mothers!) certainly don't help. I honest think that part of the problem lies with (at least part of) our society and how we raise kids with the idea that they "need to have kids" of their own when they hit a certain age. Not teaching them about, or giving them proper access to, birth control is another factor. Abstinence until marriage is a great idea but it is quite obvious it is *not* effective *at all* in practice. Drug addicts that get pregnant and continue using during pregnancy lead to children with psychological issues which also does not help. > MP> One thing I am pretty sure we are doing wrong is being too tolerant, or > MP> inattentive, of persons with violent and sociopathic tendencies. > School staff members don't want to stir things up, and single moms can't > discipline their kids. "No TV or internet while I'm at work and while you're > home alone." (yea right!) If they even try to discipline them. There are some parents who worry about their kid's behavior and may take action. There are others who worry but do not (scared of the kid, worried about what society would think if they find out, etc.). Then there are those who think their kid cannot do anything wrong and actually enable the kids... even after the kid does something serious enough to land them in jail, they work to get them out. That last group in particular should not be parents. * SLMR 2.1a * Arkansas figured out a way to get rid of Billy-Jeff. --- SBBSecho 3.14-Linux * Origin: capitolcityonline.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/HTTP (1:2320/105) .
