Those rankings are per capita. "Overall crime rate is calculated by dividing the total number of reported crimes of any kind by the total population, then multiplying the result by 100,000 (because crime rate is typically reported as X number of crimes per 100,000 people)." As always, the devil is in the details. Sweden's definition of rape is extremely broad, and there is a lot of support there for victims, which leads to a much higher rate of reporting. I know women here in the US that were raped and never reported it because going through the process of being questioned, tested, and testifying can be just as traumatic, or even more-so. Even so, The USA's Homicide rate is 4.36, while Sweden's is 1.08. Serious Assault is 246.84 to 47.22. That's all from your magic website. Mike .... Drat!
