Duh.. I forgot about F1.  It seems to answer all my stupid questions.

I did not realize that the filter could be configured to search the UNselected 
areas. Programmatically, that seemed wrong.  To me, something UNselected means 
"do not touch".  I considered the "Available Areas" just a list to pick from, 
and not active unless moved to the "Selected" column.
