Subj : hello from pointweb To : August Abolins From : Alan Ianson Date : Wed Feb 12 2020 16:49:20 Hello August, AI>> Interesting. Your tearline says GoldED. Is that what you used to AI>> write that message? AA> Yes.. it invokes GoldED. Interesting, it invokes golded in a web interface. Sounds like Thomas has put a lot of effort into it. It would be good if he could get the "." between your first and last name out. AA> I am not too familiar with it, but it seems to have many editing AA> options. I've only used it briefly when I was experimenting with AA> invoking an external editor with Apoint. I'm spoiled with OXP and AA> working locally, but this real-time webpoint method feels very AA> different from anything else. A little internet delay when typing is AA> to be expected. AA> Like Thomas said, this method doesn't require any extraneous programs AA> at all. Yep, sounds like a usefull setup. Is that your own point address? I have thought about doing something similar. My idea was to give folks ssh access. If folks are comfortable with an ssh shell they could edit files and set envirnments as they please and once their configuration is done they can run golded (or any editor) to read and reply to messages. If they are not comfortable in the shell I could setup a golded.cfg for them and set their shell to golded so when they log in golded fires up for them and when they leave it shuts down. That's how I am logged in now. No delay at all as I type. AA> Full bbs-like options are available: file-requests, netmail, AA> re-routing netmail, etc (mostly provided by the GoldEd features). Yep, golded is a handy editor. There was nothing to compare it to when Odin first started on it.
