Subj : Web Hosting To : All From : aaron thomas Date : Wed Feb 01 2017 01:25:00 Does anyone have any preference when it comes to web hosting? I've been using GoDaddy for a couple years, and my server has been up 100% of the time, from what I can tell. They now allow you to select your server with geographic preference, and despite what some people say, it's made a significant difference for me using a USA server vs using a Singapore server. It's come time for me to upgrade to HTTPS, and GoDaddy charges way too much for their certificate (like $80 a year,) so I'm seeking a cheaper alternative, but I really love the speediness and reliability of the server that I'm on. It's hard to choose where to go. I like Dreamhost's option to use "Let's Encrypt," a free alternative to paying for a certificate. However, Dreamhost has some drawbacks. I like paying up in advance, as there's often a nice discount if you do, but wouldn't it suck if I paid for like 3 years of hosting and then had poor performance? --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A31 (Raspberry Pi) * Origin: Alcoholiday / Est. 1995 / alco.bbs.io (1:123/525) .
