For the benfit of the wider group Spiro and I chatted online a few days back about this as well. I have an idea whereby I aim to package up a turnkey BBS for folks to unzip and run out of the box. The BBS starts with a defacto guest Fidonet address quickly and is then fed several echoareas from Agency that acting as the HUB for 770 and 772. I think the chances of mass numbers of users logging into a BBS are slim but the chances of interested past sysops or just others who want to know more picking up a turnkey system they can install, press play and use are far greater. If we got 10 extra folks running these easy to use turnkey systems then that blows out of the water the declining figures for Fidonet NZ very quickly. Past sysops could/would well be interested in this as would others on geekzone.co.nz The good thing about the Mystic BBS package both you and use is that it's being proactivly developed by James in 2014. To see a bit of software with built in binkp, polling software, echomail and file tossing etc. being worked on month after month is really exciting. I think Mystic is the ideal swiss army knife to do the turnkey solution job. I'd be interested to hear what everyone else thinks. Spiro thought perhaps offering VM ware options as well although that's a bit beyond me at present. Anyway first steps are for me to to build an image of a turnkey BBS and test it out. Perhaps David you would be interested in being my guinea pig? Food for thought...
