Semi static is more than enough. Even an address that changes once a day is good enough for Fidonet.

Needlessly complicated. DDNS has been in use for decades and every decent router these days can deal with that.

Nope, I am talking about regular nodes that can accept incoming calls. Pvt nodes do not even need a globally routable address.
