 It does not matter how you transfer fidonet files, as long as it works.

 In the far past, I exchanged files with Randy Busch using UUCP and
 later with John Souvestre using FTP.

 Today you could exchange fidonet files using Dropbox.

 What Michiel may be hinting at, is that it is of little use to advertise
 protocols in the Nodelist, that require the use of a password.
