Agreed and I say allowing anonymous FTP upload is a risk I do not want to take. Other than that I say that the added value of an alternative protocol to binkp for Fido is very limited if it runs on the same physical system and the same connection with the rest of the world. Binkd is very reliable, most problems with connections would affect the alternative protocol as well. An alternative protocol requires extra maintenance with more chance of errors. Plus that AFAIK there is no mechanisme for automatic fallback to FTP if binkp fails... I say forget about FTP as a protocol for Fidonet. It is not worth the effort and the risk.
