One can display the old devices but to make them run again often requires an anvironment that is just gone and can not be recovered within the limits of reasonable effort. In the city of Utrecht, some fifteen km from here, there is a train museum. All kind of beautifull old stuff is on display. Very interesting. But these century old trains will never bring people from A to B again. Recreating the environment in which they could function is just not doable any more. And letting them run on the tracks in use now interferes too much with current railroad operating practice. So we will just have to satisfy ourselves with the static display of these antique jewels of technology.
