Since when do others determine which ports a sysop should have open or
not? Surely if I want to block traffic from scumbag.org I am well
within my right to do so. There is no evidence that binkd or whatever
else doesn't have some sort of bug that could be exploited by a bad
actor. 

I suppose it should be possible to go through the nodelist and
whitelist all the IP addresses but I'm not sure there is any document
that exists that says a fidonet sysop must have the binkd port open to
world+dog.
