I see your point. Checking binkp.net may be a useful option, but then it should be an option all by itself. The domain should be configurable as "binkp.net" may not last forever, it may go the way of its predecessor "fidonet.net". Plus that "binkp.net" is only for Fidonet. Othernet sysops may want to check some other domain.
