Within your region you can do things different as long as it does not affect the rest of the world. "Doing things different" with respect to the technical specifications of the nodelist affects the rest of Fidonet in a way that is detrimental to the smooth operation of the network. Therefore it is not to be done. Regpol or no regpol.
