If the ZCs decide to do away with zone specific nodelists and switch to a system where there is just one IC issued master nodelist for all of Fidonet then it would be a lot easier and simpler.

The ZCs could still synchronise their efforts but the timing doesn't need to be all that strict to be functional. The IC would simply use the last zone segments received before the deadline. Be that 2 seconds or two month old...

In any case we would all use the same nodelist and there would no longer be discrepancies between the zones.

Whatever the reasons were, they DID appoint an IC and the consequences should be accepted.

Neither would I. In fact I would welcome such a change.

Actually... P4 says different. P4 says that it is the IC that compiles and issues the master nodelist. That is not something that the ZCs can choose to follow or ignore.

That it has been ignored ever since zones were created is no reason to keep ignoring it.
