Like Wilfred, I have never heard of such a problem in the 30+ years that I have been involved in nodelist processing. But if such crippleware actually exists, it should be addressed at the source.

How about the following locally used nodelist preprocessor:

 sed s/,300$/,300,FLAG/ nodelist.xyz > nodelist.999
