I also use a Gmail account to send automated/timed emails, from an event 
or even a cron job.  Going to check out how Yahoo does it, and I heard 
somewhere else that a site called 'smtp2go.com' offers a free level 
account for doing similar things.

Let's keep this thread going as any of us learn more about best 
solutions.
