Subj : MBSE's NNTP gate To : Sean Dennis From : Stephen Walsh Date : Thu Oct 25 2018 11:35:12 Hello Sean! 24 Oct 18 10:39, you wrote to me: SW>> If fido, then yes I have it running here. Works like a dream. SD> For now, just allowing NNTP access to the BBS' message base. I'm not doing that, and haven't gone down that path. My mbse setup operates as a hub with no BBS use, as I use another software package for the bbs. SD> I have a few downlinks that would like a couple of newsgroups SD> eventually. I use leafnode for these reasons: 1. Filtering 2. It only cache's what mbse wants 3. It's easy to configure then having a full nntp server. SD> How were the MBSE docs describing how to do this? What doc's? #-) I've been running mbse since 2007, and read them to get the system going. But not any more... But to sum up how my system is setup in mbsetup. 1. create a echomail area 2. Give it a area/ftn name 3. Put in the newsgroup name 4. Put in your fido address 5. Change the type to 'news' 6. Set message limites etc. In the global setup, go into 12. and set the nntpnode to localhost. change the news mode to nntp feed. Set no regate to yes This after having leafenode allready running. Stephen --- GoldED+/LNX 1.1.5-b20170303 * Origin: Dragon's Lair ---:- dragon.vk3heg.net -:--- (3:633/280) .
