Subj : Looking for RIPterm... To : All From : Bradley D. Thornton Date : Sat Aug 31 2019 20:46:48 With the talk in recent threads here about Syncterm, etc., I figured I'd ask if anyone knows where I can grab a copy of RipTerm in a file area somehwere. I've looked around on a couple of BBSes, and can't find any nearline archives of any copies of my own (and I'm a zillion miles from where I actually have it on tape/diskette). I've managed to find only a single instance of Searchlight BBS (The Trashcan - bbs.thenet.gen.nz:2324), and would really enjoy surfing that BBS with RIP graphics and a mouse :) It was really refreshing to find an extant instance of Searchlight after all these years, and the user interface is so nice, even on the cli. It lacked some of the more popular but sometimes esoteric features of the more prominent BBS software systems back then, but it was stable and it was easy to integrate most functionality with 3rd party software. It was actually just coming into its own, and really gaining in popularity right around the time that (I can't remember if it was TBBS or RBBS or what) one of the more prominent systems heralded in the signs of the deathknells with a product called WorldGroup, IIRC. Anyway, RIP never got a chance to take a foothold, although it was supported by Mustang Software and other major BBSes (no pun intended), although Searchlight was almost singularly unique in that it supported native RIP, even on the sysops console and you could design in a quasi wysiwyg environment. Anyway, thanks in advance for any feedback :) --- SBBSecho 3.09-Linux * Origin: Vertrauen - [vert/cvs/bbs].synchro.net (1:103/705) .
