I can't comment on Steam (I don't use it), but there's a number of RDP clients for Linux, whatever distro you choose. Should be straightforward, but in general, netbooks are better suited tp simple terminal duties. I find my Firefox configuration tends to bog the machine down, same for Thunderbird. .... Mind...
