Probably but then again I don't know since I don't have that issue here.  I 
suspect the motherboard might have a "VGA compatible controller: ASPEED 
Technology, Inc. ASPEED Graphics Family" (<- the lspci entry on the octacore I 
have) which is quite popular on server boards these days.  I have to build that 
into a linux kernel for it to give me 8 penguins on bootup.
