In the config you can define multiple names in [<realnames>] but when you post, the first one is used. However, if you do not define [<realnames>] at all, the news client will set the name field. So the user decides which name to use for posting.

Well, perhaps the safest way is to create one account per network for every user. Then they don't accidentally post by alias to fidonet. :)
