if so some glibc versions or distros have ipv4 prefered first even if ipv6 is working aswell :=)

in that case change /etc/gai.conf its imho well dokumented, if any questions on this post your glibc version and uncommented lines in /etc/gai.conf

if its not linux then i cant help :)
