Hi!

When dealing with IPv6 addresses in shell scripts you can use one of those huge regex' to check if something is an IPv6 address but it's cumbersome. Therefore I've written a small linux tool to simplify things.

Features:
  - supports IPv4 in dotted decimal format with optional CIDR suffix
  - supports IPv6 in standard format and IPv4-mapped format, both with
    optional suffix and interface
  - takes address by command line option or stdin
  - can determine the address family
  - can check if a address is IPv4 and/or IPv6
  - optimized for scripting
