When there is an AAAA record, my browser attempts to connect via IPv6. It keeps trying until there is a time out. Only then does it switch to IPv4. This gives a very nitceable delay, especially if there are multiple items to laod, as the procedure will be repeated for every item. This delay was exactly the reason why not so long ago content providers were reluctant to add AAAA records to their website. Flakey IPv6 implemantations that try to connect by IPv6 that fail and that drop back tp IPv4 will cause unacceptable delays. ANY hostname that points to the AAAA record but not to an A record will do for he test. Ah, wait, I will do it myself.... root@OpenWrt:~# ping6 felten.vlist.eu PING felten.vlist.eu (2001:16d8:ff00:2f8::2): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 2001:16d8:ff00:2f8::2: seq=1 ttl=121 time=170.812 ms 64 bytes from 2001:16d8:ff00:2f8::2: seq=2 ttl=121 time=347.773 ms 64 bytes from 2001:16d8:ff00:2f8::2: seq=3 ttl=121 time=528.087 ms 64 bytes from 2001:16d8:ff00:2f8::2: seq=4 ttl=121 time=566.908 ms 64 bytes from 2001:16d8:ff00:2f8::2: seq=5 ttl=121 time=75.409 ms 64 bytes from 2001:16d8:ff00:2f8::2: seq=6 ttl=121 time=70.956 ms ^C -+- felten.vlist.eu ping statistics --- 7 packets transmitted, 6 packets received, 14% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max = 70.956/293.324/566.908 ms root@OpenWrt:~# So felten.vlist.eu pings. But alas, http://felten.vlist.eu gives an error 404. So.. your website is not accesible by IPv6... :-( BTW, the ping times you see above are via my he.net tunnel.
