On one occasion, I had to move a file from a netbook with a USB-Ethernet adapter to a Pi. Later, I downloaded the file from the Pi, but at 3MB/s, instead of the normal 10+ (i.e. close to the full 100 Mbps) that the netbook's USB betwork card can do. The Pi is an awesome piece of kit for the price, I love them, but high performance I/O is not one of its strengths. ....
