 It is all guessing, but we also do not know what version of Binkd is used.

 Maybe there is a parsing problem when a multihost resonse is received with
 one in Pv6 notation.

 Actually the above problem is only interesting if it also shows in a current
 version of Binkd.

 From the past I remember the first answer after a problem report:
 "Are you running the current version of our software"
