 software Bob uses and which version.

 From a different discussion I gather, that he uses Binkd and separate files
 to include the passwords.

 Unless he uses the t-mail, ifcico or qico style password file, there
 will be some Node line that defines the password(s) for your system.
 As that is likely to be a static file, add "-4" as first value after the
 nodenumber. This forces Binkd to use IPv4 for that node.
