BP> well it usefull thinking it would happend but i do not belive it would It makes sense to me. Part of the internet will be IPv6 only or be connected via CGN in the very near future. Once IPv6 gets on steam and people see the advantage of not having to go through NAT, they will see the light. MvdV>> It makes sense to make the transition period as short as MvdV>> possible. So ditch IPv4 as soon as one can. BP> you are welcome to do so :) It is not me that will be doing it. Sooner or later your ISP will stop offering you a public IPv4 address. So what will you do? Accept and use an IPv4 addres in the private range behind NAt, or use IPv6? BP> if you come back to ipv4 what have i won so ? I do not know when I will dump IPv4. But I am pretty sure that if and when I do, I will not go back. I never go back. I dumped tape. I dumped the audio cassette. I dumped paper tape, I dumped 8" floppies. I dumped 5" floppies. I dumped DOS, I dumped OS/2 I dumped analog telephony. I dumped analog photography. I dumped my fountain pen. I dumped my slide rule. I still have an antique grand father clock. But I do not use it to read the time. It is for ornamental purposes only. There is lots of things that I have dumped and I never felt the need to go back. Maybe the VA is a bit premature in setting the exit for IPv4 at 2014. I expect IPv4 will be with us until 2020. I expect to see equipment that will have it turned off by default before then. Maybe as early as 2015. Cheers, Michiel --- GoldED+/W32-MINGW 1.1.5-b20070503 * Origin: 2001:470:1f15:1117::1 (2:280/5555) .
