I set the MAC address for the NIC that connects to my ISP. I this way I replaced the full server and NIC cards, without having to login again for years. It also enables me to change NIC without the dynamic address changing. It only changes when I do a proper shutdown and DHCP releases the address, or when there is a major hardware reorganisation with my ISP.
