Nice.  That means that my senior friend only needs to  
"remember" the old password and we can then apply the TB  
config change too.  But I fear that she will be forced to  
reset it, and update her iPad account too. That is surely  
going to frustrate her.  :(   But hopefully, the son-in-law  
will make sure she writes down the new password.  I could then  
have another remote session to do the config change.

Yes.. I can fully appreciate that syncing.  Infact, that is  
how I use my iPods and Blackberry for getting the heads-up on   
mail across my various accounts.  But when I am at my laptop  
(for personal mail) or desktop (for bizness mail)...I use pop/ 
smtp and pull in the mail for storing mail locally and flush  
the mail servers clean. If my mobile internet wasn't metered,  
I'd probably be fine with imap method across the board.
