December 23: National Pfeffernuesse Day

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Peppernut Cookies (AKA Pfeffernusse)
 Categories: Cookies, Snacks
      Yield: 33 servings

      1 c  Butter (230 g)
  1 1/2 c  Sugar (300 g)
      1 lg Egg; beaten (57 g)
      2 tb Dark syrup
  3 1/2 c  A-P flour (420 g)
      2 ts Baking soda
      1 ts Cloves
      1 ts Ground ginger
      1 ts Ground cinnamon
    1/2 ts Anise flavouring; (opt)

  Whip room-temperature butter until light and fluffy. Add
  sugar and egg and continue to beat.

  Add remaining ingredients in order given.

  Pull off small pieces of dough and roll to the thickness
  of a pencil. Slice into 1/4" - 1/2" pieces. Place on a
  cookie sheet covered with a silicone mat or parchment
  paper.

  Bake @ 350ºF/175ºC for 7-9 minutes or until bottoms
  begin to brown.

  Yield: 33 servings
