Subj : 11/17 Nat Baklava Day 2 To : All From : Dave Drum Date : Tue Nov 16 2021 10:53:42 MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 Title: Baklava Sofia Categories: Pastry, Desserts, Nuts Yield: 15 Servings 500 g Pastry 4 lg Eggs 2 tb Confectioners Sugar; for - stuffing 2 ts Baking powder 4 tb All purpose flour 2 tb Cinnamon 250 g Melted Butter 2 c Walnuts; chopped 1 ts Vanilla extract; for syrup 2 c Confectioners Sugar; for - syrup STUFFING: Mix together baking powder and the flower in a small bowl. Put aside. In a bowl scramble the eggs and mix in 125 gr melted butter, cinnamon, walnuts and 2 tbs sugar. Add in the flour mixture and stir. PASTRY: Set the oven @ 175ºC/350ºF. Grease a pan 25 cm x 40 cm. Start arranging the pastry sheets one by one in the pan. Sprinkle melted butter after each sheet and spread stuffing after each 4-5 sheet. Cut the pastry to squares and then cut each square in half. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes. Heat 125 grams butter to boiling temperature and pour over the baked pastry. Cool before adding the syrup (about 1 hour) SYRUP: Mix in a pot 2 cups sugar with 3 cups tap water. Add in the vanilla extract and bring to boil. Pour the hot syrup over the cool pastry.
