Subj : Repeaters ? To : SEAN DENNIS From : Daryl Stout Date : Sun May 12 2019 09:36:00 Sean, SD>The ARRL officially gave the responsibility for the repeater direcory to SD>Rfinder so yep, you're right. :D From what I hear through the grapevine, ARRL is really hurting for funds and members right now. Most of its active members are my age or older. Folks don't have the money, aren't interested, or because they disagree with a lot of what ARRL is doing, aren't joining, or letting their memberships lapse. Other clubs and organizations memberships, especially for a "Life Membership" are far cheaper than what ARRL wants. I told them "$1100 a month on disability doesn't go far...so, you're wasting your time sending me mail and email asking for money for The Diamond Club, Spectrum Defense, etc.". I don't even order items from The ARRL Store, unless I'm going to do a forum at a hamfest (extremely rare nowadays), and will raffle off something, like The ARRL Operating Manual. At least you can get 25 of a certain item (like an information brochure) for free with an order. I still have the older frequency charts without the 2200 or 630 meter bands...because most folks will be going for their Technician License at a license exam session. The only real times I've seen folks interested in taking an exam is right before a certain element Question Pool and resulting exams, are to change...such as the General this July...the Extra in July, 2020...then they take a year off (2021)...then the Technician again in 2022. I also switched my sessions to "pre-registration required", with a deadline to register of 48 hours before the session. That way, the VE's don't go out there for nothing.
