I'm a little late replying to this, but I do use golded with synchronet, and 
all I have to do is point to my sbbs directory. If I remember, when I get home 
(I'm on vacation right now) I'll post the config lines required to make it 
work. 

It can be a little buggy, but it works for the most part.
