I was the one that got SMB (Synchronet Message Base) format put into GoldEd+
around 2000-2001.  GED has very rudimentary support because the then-author
of GED said that SMB was a bitch to work with and he wouldn't get any
farther than the basics for support.  But I can personally verify that it
does work though I don't know if SBBS works as well with GED these days due
to updates with SBBS.

I do remember that SMB set up was 100% manual in GOLDED.CFG using the
"Areas" keyword.
