My grandmother who lived through those times also had the canned goods in the cellar... items she likely canned herself, in Ball and Mason jars... and a few other quirks that seem odd now. Although my father was born after the depression, I believe he inherited some of those quirks from his parents. One thing about "the depression" is that most of us learned that it ended about the time American got involved in WWII. In Apalachia, even the outskirts of it, it hung on a lot longer, so maybe he did actually live through the reminants of it. Reading this over, I am wondering if the original poster meant to post this in the FUNNY echo or the MEMORIES echo? It is not necessarily a humorous topic. ;) Mike * SLMR 2.1a * Boss spelled backwards is "double SOB". --- SBBSecho 3.20-Linux * Origin: capitolcityonline.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/HTTP (1:2320/105) .
