Subj : Other than that, that subj line is limited to 40 chars To : Alan Ianson From : August Abolins Date : Mon Jan 11 2021 09:43:00 Hello Alan! ** On Monday 11.01.21 - 05:48, Alan Ianson wrote to August Abolins: AA>> Other than that, that subj line is limited to 40 chars. QWKE implemented the longer subject lines. A few more OLRs/systems followed. But apparently even 40 is too long for some people. :/ So, although 40 is not as long as FTN allows, one person finds it "annoying". :| Meanwhile, QWK users will receive a chopped version down to 25 courtesy of their chosen programs/systems. I think it is more annoying when people *don't* adjust the subj according to the message content. :/ AI> That's an old standard. The only time you'll see short AI> subject lines is if someone enters a short subject, or if a AI> QWK reader cuts it short. The Telegram approach to produce a subject from the first 40- chars in a message is better than having absolutely nothing. In list view, that subject acts as a kind of preview/excerpt of the message within. -- ../|ug --- OpenXP 5.0.48 * Origin: Mobile? https://t.me/joinchat/SPBwvE1gkHzEKAkapsHkdQ (2:221/1.58) .
