But history starts back in 2013 when you never answered my e-mail. I don't want to sound ungrateful for what you done for me, and I do thank you once again for helping me in 2017 and allowing me to re-join FidoNet. Here is the thread from 2013: (and yes, I thought Janis was a guy). Best regards, Andrei. -----Original Message----- From: Andrei Rachita Sent: Monday, July 8, 2013 7:31 AM To: wd@skynet.be Subject: FW: Zone 1 Node Number Application Form Hello Mr. Dossche, I would like to know what can I do in order to become a FidoNet point (and be able to receive FidoNet mail + access to the FidoNet groups). As far I as know, there are no more nodes on NET 530 (Romania), so that's why I contacted you, as instructed by Mr. Kracht. Back in the days (1997) I used to be a point on Catalin Ionescu's BBS: 2:530/301.10 (if I remember correctly) and even had access to the Fido to Internet gateway of those days (since we had an ISP who provided only UUCP-based e-mail): andrei.rachita@contact.pcnet.ro. For the moment I'm not thinking about setting up a BBS, but would like to have access to the wealth of information I used to have with FidoNet topics. Could you please provide me more info about how to setup ARGUS, RADIUS or BINKD for getting FidoNet e-mail ? (do I need to dial-in a BBS or is it doable via TCP/IP). Looking forward for your e-mail. Thank you for sending an application to join Fidonet! Contact the Zone 2 Coordinator, Ward Dossche at wd@skynet.be.? He will be able to find a good place for your node in the nodelist. I can answer questions you may have about mailers and echomail tossers though :) Most of us are using the binkp protocol to connect with our mailers. If you are running Windows, ARGUS, RADIUS, and BINKD mailers support binkp. If you are running a linux system, you can use the linux version of BINKD. Are you going to set up a bbs?
