  Two of his other quotes I recall...

1) "If at first you don't succeed...try, try, again. Then quit. No use
being a d@mn fool about it". <G>

2) "I never drink water. Fish [have sex] in it". :P

  One of the skits with the late ventriloquist Edgar Bergen and his
dummy Charlie McCarthy, with W.C. Fields, had them "fighting each
other". Charlie wondered if Fields would provide him something for his
bicycle, and Fields said "I'm not that affluent, but perhaps I can buy
you a bell". Charlie didn't want that...instead, he asked "Could I
borrow your nose for a tail light??!!" <G> Fields was usually drunk as a
coot!!

  After Fields told Charlie that "pulpwood was on the priority list",
Charlie retorted "Listen here, you long nosed anteater!!".

  Bergen tries to calm them down, trying to convince Charlie that Fields
was not a well man. Fields says "That's right Edgar. I've been a fragile
thing of beauty, ever since I was born!!".

  To which, Charlie retorts "Why, you weren't born!! You were squeezed
out of a bar rag"!!  <BG>
