curve so that the health systems has a chance to cope with the serious cases!

In some countries (namely UK, USA, and early China) the political reaction was 
catastrophic.
Those countries lost a lot of time and they will massively pay the price with 
human lifes.

On the other hand later China and Soth Korea did a remarkable good job in 
slowing the outbreak!

Also thanks to science even those countries with scientifically illiterate 
leaders (and illiterate advisors) have now started to implement measures.
But they come VERY late and WILL have a cost in lost human life.
