My late maternal grandmother had one of those and she would stop and sit when 
she was grocery shopping.  I'd help her with that occasionally when she still 
could do that.  While she sat and rested, I'd go to the "farther reaches" of 
the store and retrieve what she needed.

I think we may still have hers around here somewhere.
