I used to know how to do the VCR but have not really taken the effort learn the DVD player.

As I understand it, one puts a disc in a slot and perhaps pushes a button or two ...

Not quite as simple here. I have to switch the TV to DVD player mode, plus do the above steps--all with the proper remote control for each
device.

like a gambling device, does not it. Then would come one of the situations where I would join You in supplication to heaven.

Give it a try; you still will have to hand shape them a bit but it is definatly a time saver.
