permanently"  What part of that is supposed to indicate that  
you would be coming back, maintain your links, or maintain your  
passwords, or anything.

Wrt to moderatorship of an echo, perhaps that CAN be maintained  
with other access points, but a message of "down.. permanently"
gives a different impression to many.
