My system gets the bulk of them from Janis and as far as I know get all of 
fido
area plus some others but only English based one's as my system could not
display content anyway.

True and in years distant past they did when echos and files where distributed
by the major region star type systems.

As Sysops have left with others taking over the slack these processes seem to
have stopped.

With Cvd19 running and most of us at home, I expected that some areas would
come back to life but sadly that is not the case and as you say they should be
let go.
