I was an alter boy in the 80's at a local Catholic church...for 2 years... 
memorized the fucking mass, the whole nine yards.

The priest was a fucking asshole (not "fucking assholes" to be clear)... 
eventually at the age of 12 I became disillusioned and stopped going to church
altogether. This caused all sorts of arguments in the family at the time but I
didn't care. "Don't swing the cross back and forth like a rock concert" was 
the last straw amongst other stupid shit I was being berated over by him.
