Some programs, like OpenXP, have a "Drop to DOS", and that
takes me to a command shell.  To be accurate, perhaps it should
say "Drop to emulated-DOS"

Ahh... ok.  I realize we are talking about the original DOS
now. Save for Win95 and Win3.1 the later DOS shells are emulations.
